The Fred again.. hypestorm rolled into the Gold Coast a few days ago, so we sent our best Goldy photographer to review it… Tommy Nortz, take it away…

Doug Jennings as a venue is fantastic once you are there. As I’m sure you have seen all the news articles and media the issue is getting in and out which can potentially ruin what could be a great gig.

Buttttt let’s push that aside. The boiler room type stage set up was incredible a little small in height so for people like me that couldn’t get to the front due to getting in late (from the traffic). Couldn’t see a huge amount of Fred without a zoom on the phone, but the sound system was really good tho. So it sounded amazing anywhere you were.

If you could get into the VIP staging around him it looked so fucking good.

The lack of info on the gig shocked a few people when all it was, was a massive extended DJ set basically Fred & friends. Which don’t get me wrong was a huge vibe but would have loved to see a little bit more of a ‘live show’ especially for the venue, set up and general ticket price.

Drink queues were fast, plenty of bathrooms so no issues there for the 31,000 or more that attended. Sam Alfred was amazing I wish I got to see all his set basically saw the end. Take away the getting in and getting out of the venue. Was a great vibe in there.

The set was full of ‘bangers’ could have played a few more ‘Fred again..’ tracks only played like four of them I reckon.

Wish I could have got my camera in there and shot around the stage would have been amazing to shoot…
