Not a bong in sight…

You ever wondered why you love listening to Dune Rats? Your first answer might be something to do with their cheeky-as-fuck lyrics about partying and other naughty stuff. The second thing that comes to mind is their ability to get you feeling primed for a mosh pit, even if you’re sitting at your desk typing away at your computer. But you know what is the real answer, more so than either of the reasons above? The reason you love listening to Dune Rates is the simple fact they write catchy bloody tunes. Which brings us to today’s premiere…

‘Solar Eyes’ locks into a cruisey groove, with Danny’s vocals soaring above jangly guitars and tangling with verbed out harmonies. For a second, you’re wondering who’s performing this lush, symphonic number, before the verse hits you right in the guts with the lyrics delving into the life of a slacker, or maybe just a bloke who’s a bit overwhelmed by everything. It’s nothing like the drug-fuelled Dvnies that we’ve come to love. It’s even better.

The band have shared fuck all insight into the track:

We wrote a song.
We like it.
We are putting it out.
– Dune Rats

The clip which was directed by Alex Flamsteed reckons with ageing and love as we follow older and younger versions of a couple. Contemplating “life”, trying to understand nostalgic memories – even this is a departure for the band who have clearly been mulling over some of the universe’s bigger questions.

Anyways, what does this mean for the future of Dune Rats? What’s their next release gonna sound like? TBH, we’re frothing on this new version of the band and will eat this up for breakfast any day. Stay TUNED (or maybe, DUNED?!) for more.
