Despite being on the scene for well over a decade now, Perth trio San Cisco have continually found ways to keep their music sounding fresh and relevant. It’s a skill that few artists are able to maintain over such a period, yet, the ‘Between You & Me’ singers make it look like easy work. Now, however, they’ve let another Aussie music heavyweight take the reigns on their latest sonic departure, tapping dance duo Cut Copy for a glitzy remake of their recent single, ‘Under The Light’.
Beginning with some mellow synths and the ever-enchanting vocals of Jordie Davidson, the record strips back the live music layers of the original for a meditative slow burn that exists halfway between the electronic and synth-wave realms. Naturally, the track radiates a summer-ready sentiment, characterised by its twinkling melodies and magical undertones.
To celebrate the remix, the two artists will be taking to the stage together tonight at Perth’s The Ice Cream Factory, with Cut Copy opening proceedings with a special DJ set. It’s set to be the last stop of San Cisco’s recent lap around the country, however, if tonight goes as well as we’re expecting, we wouldn’t be surprised if the two Aussie music heavyweights chucked on a couple extra Aussie tour dates for good measure. There are still a couple of tickets available for tonight, cop them here if you know whats good for you.
It’s a team up of two of Australia’s most treasured music veterans, and manages to add plenty of new shades to the already beloved indie-rock ballad. Cut Copy’s remix of San Cisco’s ‘Under The Light’ is out now. You can buy/stream it here.
