Reckon Billy Corgan has some tabs lying around?

Following the departure of guitarist Jeff Schroeder, who joined the band back in the early 2000s, Billy Corgan and the Smashing Pumpkins have taken to Instagram to find a new axe-slinger. The post has already attracted thousands of comments, many of them unserious, with plenty people putting their hand up and flexing their qualifications. The band has cleverly also used the virality of the post to let fans know they’re touring the world next year too:

The post encourages people to email their resumes and “related material” to the band who clearly don’t know anyone personally that is suitable and have also never heard of session musicians. I can’t tell if it’s the modern-day version of someone taking out an ad in DRUM magazine and it reeks of desperation, or it’s a bit of marketing genius that is offering a golden ticket to a lucky Smashing Pumpkins fan.

To be fair, the job of putting up with Billy Corgan sounds pretty stressful, with the man’s reputation as a bit of an egomaniac well documented over the years. That said, he is undoubtedly a weapon on guitar.
