With COVID still wreaking havoc on the festival scene, Splendour have taken the power back, announcing a virtual concert experience that goes beyond a livestream performance to satisfy our burning hunger to get back to the North Byron Parklands. Enter Splendour XR – a festival experience (for a fraction of the price, mind you) that you can enjoy on your chosen tablet, screen or VR setup (don’t ask us how that works).
Working with San Francisco based platform developers Sansar, organisers have recreated the Byron Bay venue, where you can travel from stage to stage watching artists play exclusive Splendour XR sets, make your own schedule, meet up with mates and even do yoga at the Global Village, just like real life. Plus there are no sniffers (wink, wink).
“Working with Splendour we have been challenged to go above and beyond anything we’ve done before. This is going to be the most impressive virtual live event that the consumer market has ever seen, and we can say that with absolute confidence” said Pouyan Afkary, Business Development, Sansar.

The lineup is a doozy too with R&B lord Khalid leading the charge on the Saturday and indie-rock royalty The Killers headlining the Sunday. They’ll be joined by a massive roster of local and international acts including Denzel Curry, CHVRCHES, Charli XCX, Vance Joy, King Gizzard and many more. Check out the ridiculous full lineup:
