Perth boutique Highs & Lows has been setting the bar for sneaker collaborations for some years now – and they keep the ball rolling with their latest collaboration with skate pioneers Vans, who continue their 50th birthday celebrations in style.

The latest versions of the Sk8-Hi and Old Skool have been spawned from a longstanding relationship between the two brands, twisting the long-standing silhouettes into West Australian classics. The Sk8-Hi features a monogram design with Highs & Lows’ favoured logo, while the Old Skool features zip detailing for a rustic edge. Both sneakers come with Highs & Lows’ name branded on Vans’ world-famous waffle sole.

“I have been skating since 1984 and It really has played a huge role in the my youth and in to my adult life. I am still very much inspired by the skate culture and what it is been able to do as a community… I feel that it is real honour for us to work with such a true icon of our culture, having grown up wearing Vans it really is a brand that Highs & Lows holds a special place for. Companies are returning to their roots as we see the market revolting against the populace,” Highs & Lows founder Matt Thomas tells us.

“The sneaker industry is in a interesting time where brands are being driven by personalities on social media and opinion rather than personal objectivity and good design,” he continues. Hopefully these latest Vans sneakers go some way in restoring faith into the art of collaboration footwear. Both models go on sale from Saturday, September 17 – see them below and stay tuned to LWA for all the action from their launch party:
