Amidst roars of defiance and resilience, Lisa Caruso explores the raw emotions and vulnerabilities anchored to a relationship that’s run its course.

It’s Lisa Caruso’s third single release of the year and the fourth track from her upcoming debut album In FeelingsOn the track, Lisa said, “Dream Lover is about compromise in a relationship and how often one is forced to do more than the other. It’s a passionate and relentless fight with the inevitable breakdown toward the end, finishing with a roar of self worth, [and] never giving in.” Doing what she does best, Lisa gets her impassioned message across with devastating delivery driven home by her aching cries of “what about me?”.

Raw and spontaneous, the direction of the video syncs up perfectly with the track, capturing the range of contrasting emotions that follow the realisation of a relationship at its end. “I knew that with ‘Dream Lover’, I wanted to incorporate flowers. I had an image of a person walking down a back lane in an upset ripping them apart; a symbol of love’s broken promises. I had my friend Sarah help on the day for this one. Adam [Singer] jumped on the bonnet of a car whilst Sarah reversed slowly, many times. Making it up as we went along, the alley scene after shooting felt pretty fire-y, so then came what we called in the edit, the ‘white room’. The white room was created to explore the softness and create a stillness which is the juxtaposition to the fire because there is always two sides to every story!”

See Lisa Caruso live at the Union Hotel this Thursday, 28 November for the official ‘Dream Lover’ single launch (event details here), and check out the brand new music video below:
