With their Whatever Happens EP pumping out of speakers around the country, Sydney pop-punk quartet Down For Tomorrow have today gifted us another reason to love them. It comes in the for of a video clip for thrashy but anthemic EP standout ‘Survive’ that is one of the more crafty DIY vids we’ve seen this year.
Taking on the classic tropes of legendary 1970s Hanna Barbera cartoon Scooby Doo the clip sways between monster chasing and studio shots with plenty of tongue-in-cheek moments. Of course, this also includes plenty of those iconic unmasking scenes wherein the villain is revealed and the gang’s fears are alleviated.
“Pulling this off proved somewhat difficult after many locations fell through, but we’ve always trusted Robbie’s artistic direction and we’re so happy with how this clip turned out,” frontman Cody Stebbings says. “We have no idea how to make a serious music video because having fun should always be the main part of making art. Of course, you should always have an important message with the music, but the visuals should be driven by the elements that will bring artists closer to those who support them.”
Naturally, the track is pure gold, with the group’s ability to write earworms whilst also giving us plenty of headbanging moments on full display. It’s got us very revved up to catch these young shredders in action in the new year. Head here to follow them on Facebook and stay in the loop…
