The Cleveland rapper pulls back the curtain on his life and career.

Kid Cudi is deservedly getting his own documentary as the subject of Amazon Prime’s new music flick, A Man Named Scott. In the recently-released trailer, Cudi outlines the trajectory of his prolific career, and lays bare the inner turmoils that followed him since his breakout album Man On The Moon. “People looked up to me,” the rapper says, “but I’m not a happy person.”

Fans and critics sing their praises for Kid Cudi’s influential debut, the third installment of which was released last year. Later, the trailer kicks it up a notch with a beat-switch to what is arguably Cudi’s biggest track, Day N Night, a song which one interviewee says “saved [their] life.” It’s the sort of moody tone you’d expect from an artist whose work set the stage for rap’s angsty-eir moments.
