Eat your heart out Quentin Tarantino…

Novocastrian five piece Les Poètes Pop are coming in hot with a tasty new single and music video this Wednesday, releasing their latest single ‘Puerto Rican Mint’ along with the accompanying music video.

Comprised of Texan-resminicent guitar lines and clashing drums, the soundscape the rock outfit crafts is equal parts sombre and uplifting. Frontman Gary Seeger’s vocals are totally captivating as well, the vocalist delivering the vivid lyrics with a gripping half spoken, half sung tone that sucks you into the world of ‘Puerto Rican Mint’.

Speaking of worlds, Les Poètes Pop craft their own and much more in the accompanying visuals, recruiting Tim Morgan of Flagrant Films to add his signature animated touch to the clip. Consequently, the visualiser plays as a cartoonish reincarnation of the Quentin Tarantino classic, Kill Bill, with the band turned into digital avatars as they perform the track in an apocalyptic landscape. It definitely adds to the overall surrealism of the tune, with the iconic Newcastle metropolis flipped onto its head as it enters the digital realm.

Its no doubt a tantalising offering from the Newy five-piece. Les Poètes Pop’s new single ‘Puerto Rican Mint’ is out now. Check out the full video below and be sure to cop tickets here for their single launch at the Wickham Park Hotel this Friday.
