First of many…

There are plenty of milestones for musicians as they ascend toward world domination. Awards, platinum records, sold out shows, the list goes on. But there’s no doubt being associated Super Bowl is a hallowed tradition reserved for some of the best. Whether it be performing at its esteemed halftime show or even being featured in one of its iconic ad breaks, there’s no doubt it’s a great sign for burgeoning artists.

Burgeoning might not be the right word for Lil Baby however, the ‘Errbody’ rapper garnering insane success over the past year with the best selling album of 2020 in My Turn. He’s essentially achieved a god-tier hip hop level as of late, and his Super Bowl Ad debut sees him soak up all that success through a rockstar lens.

Linking up with energy drink company Rockstar, Inc, the rapper recounts his journey as the ad mirrors the various highs and lows of his career. “I wasn’t born in the spotlight,” he says in the 30-second spot (which is set to his smash hit ‘Errbody’). “I had to grind to shine… something about the struggle now resides in my muscles.”

The man himself only appears in the commercial for a few seconds, but his narration and larger than life presence definitely carry throughout the duration of the visual, as he declares “Real stars don’t chase the spotlight. It chases them.”

Pretty true words from someone the spotlight is constantly chasing. Check out Baby’s Super Bowl ad debut below.
