Cut to the Grammys sulking in the corner…

Capping off his After Hours era after more than a year of living it to the fullest, Toronto R&B star The Weeknd opened the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on a tone of innovation and flare; not to mention, enough red convertibles to rival a Fast & Furious movie.

Performing a new rendition of ‘Save Your Tears’ fo the award show, The Weeknd got car-heavy for his opening slot, singing the number one tune while leading a fleet of red and white convertibles in an empty parking lot (while sitting in one of his own of course).

It also marks the first time The Weeknd hasn’t worn his iconic red suit in public, the outfit becoming something of a trademark for him during the hallowed After Hours era. It seems to have paid off, winning him seven Billboard Music Awards, including one for ‘Top Male Artist.’ However, all good things must come to an end, with The Weeknd declaring after he won the his last award of the night “The After Hours are done and the dawn is coming.”

What a note to end it on. Check out a clip of The Weeknd’s car-heavy performance below.
