Beacons of Aussie pub-rock, Melbourne’s Private Function are returning with their third studio album (succinctly named 370HSSV 0773H), due out on March 31 via their band-run label, Still On Top Records.
Now they’re making history by becoming the first band ever to turn their album cover into one big scratchie. The initial 3,000 copies of 370HSSV 0773H will all feature three panels that can be scratched away with a coin to reveal Australian icons like The Big Banana and The Giant Koala.

Whoever’s cover reveals three identical icons (there’s only 1 in the entire batch of 3,000) will receive a cash prize of $2999 AUD, along with a signed test pressing of the album and a photo of their face printed on all future pressings of the album across all variations (forever). That’s one very lucky fan.
The only catch is that the pressing (and giveaway) is open to all Australian residents except those in South Australia, due to the state’s legislation which requires any “scratch and win” promotion to have a permit.

Speaking on the idea, the band described how they wanted to find a fun way to give back to fans. “Finding a company that would actually print scratchable panels onto record sleeves wasn’t easy, but you bet we found a way to make it happen,” they said.
“To all South Australian residents, this first pressing is unavailable to you because your government sucks. We’re sorry. Hopefully we can come to some kind of deal with your government, otherwise we’ll make sure you receive future pressings.”
It comes after the band made headlines in 2020 after they pressed *suspicious* bags of white powder into their second record, Whose Line Is It Anyway.
