There’s a new continuous, AI-generated sitcom that plays 24 hours, seven days a week, based on the quintessential 90s show, Seinfeld.

Nothing, Forever follows Larry, Yvonne, Fred and Kakler – parody versions of Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer – as they interact inside a 3D-modelled version of Jerry’s (now Larry’s) apartment, occasionally cutting to an exterior shot of the apartment block or even Larry’s standup show.

The characters chat about anything from coffee to their dating lives, with dialogue written by GPT-3 (the language model that ChatGPT is built on). The result is often nonsensical, although occasionally it manages to stumble upon some pretty witty content. The whole thing is topped off by a laugh track and music reminiscent of the famous Seinfeld Theme.

The show, which airs on Twitch, was created by the small team behind Mismatch Media, an experimental media lab, who have been working on it between day jobs for the last four years.

Nothing, Forever has now been constantly running since last December and was averaging less than 10 concurrent viewers a day until two days ago when it suddenly skyrocketed to 15,000. Yesterday, it was even given the tick of approval by the real Seinfeld, when its official Twitter account posted a link to the sitcom.
