In preparation for the upcoming Straight Outta Compton film hitting theatres this August, seminal West Coast outfit N.W.A. have reformed and performed for the first time in 26 years.
Ice Cube joined MC Ren & DJ Yella for a N.W.A. reunion at The BET Experience gig at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, while Dr. Dre remained absent from the festivities. Still, they performed ‘Chin Check’, ‘8 Ball’, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and ‘Fuck Tha Police’ on their home turf.
You can see footage of ‘Fuck Tha Police’ below, where Cube rolls onstage in a LAPD vehicle complete with flashing red and blue lights. The video screens displayed instances of police brutality that have become an all too common occurrence across America – proving that the anthem is still as relevant as ever.
