A life well-lived…

In some devastating news for the boxing world, former world boxing champion Marvellous Marvin Hagler passed away over the weekend, with his wife Kay Hagler confirming the news in an online statement.

Writing online, she said “I am sorry to make a very sad announcement. Today unfortunately my beloved husband, Marvelous Marvin, passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire. Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

She didn’t provide any other details on her husband’s death, but her son James reportedly told TMZ that the 66-year-old had been experiencing breathing problems and chest pains before being transferred to a New Hampshire hospital, with the family being notified of Hagler’s death just four hours later.

Hagler began his boxing career in the late 1960s and went on to become the undisputed middleweight world champion from 1980 to 1987. He fought in a whopping 67 fights throughout his 14-year career, winning 62 of them with 52 being by knockouts. He was a legend in every sense of the world, and was only able to be properly beat for the middleweight title in 1987 by Sugar Ray Leonard, one of the greatest of all time.
