Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather made history when they touched gloves in 2017, their long-awaited bout the first time a UFC fighter had professionally fought a boxer (no less the greatest boxer of all time). Despite Mystic Mac’s predictions that he’d win the fight, Mayweather came home with the gold, yet it hasn’t stopped McGregor from firing shots at Floyd over the years.
Now, it looks like the two characters are now set to meet once again two years later, with rumours of a fight series making the rounds around the sporting world. Specifically, the series would consist of two matches, with one in the boxing ring and the other in the MMA Octagon. It’s also reportedly set to break some records and clock a total of of $1.5 billion USD ($2.4 billion AUD). So far nothing has been confirmed, but both fights would be on the official record, which means that Mayweather’s undefeated streak will be on the line.
No doubt he’ll have little to no trouble on the boxing front, but it’s been widely speculated that if the two met in the Octagon, he’d be in serious trouble. Be sure to keep an eye out for more updates on the fight, and in the meantime, revisit the pair’s 2017 fight below.
