Having linked up with the Eames Office in 2021 to salvage the wood from a eucalyptus tree and turn it into a limited edition run of decks, Globe are once again teaming up with the legendary design hub for an art-meets-skate, function-meets-form release. This time, they’ve looked back at the work of Charles and Ray Eames for the inspiration behind three decks and a cruiser.
The Eames Silhouette Series consists of the Hang-it-all, Solar Do-Nothing Machine, and Molded Plywood Sculpture. The Hang-it-all features the playful 1953 design by Charles and Ray Eames of a wall hanging made simply for children to hang all their belongings, while the Solar Do-Nothing Machine shows a kinetic sculpture designed in 1957 for a national aluminium forecast program, and the Molded Plywood Sculpture reflects a ground-breaking 1943 piece created by the duo.
Globe will also be releasing a colourful cruiser deck, based on the Eames’ 1951 piece, ‘The Toy’, which features colourful triangles and is a nod to a Charles Eames quote: “Toys are not really as innocent as they look. Toys and games are the prelude to serious ideas.”
The Eames Office Series is available right now on the Globe website and in select stores. Head here to purchase now:
