It’s one of the biggest signings in NBA history, one that will change the basketball forever – no we’re not referring to LeBron James’ move to LA Lakers, we’re obviously talking about his appointment as the (human) lead actor in the forthcoming Space Jam/. It’s probably the only sequel/reboot that is worth getting excited about right now.
James, who’s Spring Hill Entertainment posted about the deal on Instagram, clearly recognises how momentous the task at hand is. “The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie,” James said to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams…”
Black Panther producer Ryan Coogler has agreed to bring the story back to life with Terrence Nugent on board to direct. Filming will begin in 2019, there is no release date as of yet. For now, let’s just try and guess who will be filling the role of funny sideman, Bill Murray style. Maybe a Seth Rogen type?
