The show will roll out in a four-part docu-series…

Before he was travelling the world as loveable disk jockey, DJ Diesel, Shaquille O’Neal rose to prominence as one of the all-time greats to play on the Lakers. Amassing a total of four NBA championships and league MVP honours (alongside fellow Lakers legend Kobe Bryant), Shaq was well and truly one of the key figures of the sport, and now, he’s getting his own HBO doco.

Titled Shaq, the new series will follow the Los Angeles native’s rise to superstardom through BTS footage and in-depth interviews with Shaq along with his friends, teammates and family members/ The upcoming show is also set to cover his life off the court as well, with HBO’s official synopsis touching on his upbringing in a military family to his deepest personal relationships, prosperous broadcasting, and business careers.”

The two minute trailer touches on all of the above, opening on Shaq in a studio as he states that he wants to be known as “one of the greats”. The trailer also touches on his being 6’9 at 13 years old and his early aspirations to be a rapper. No doubt plenty more revelations about the 50 year old will come to light with the release of the series. The first episode of Shaq will premiere on HBO Max on Wednesday, November 23, with a new episode slated for release each subsequent Wednesday. For now, check out the full trailer below. You can also check out his recent DJ set at The Star we shot here.
