If you’re anything like us, communication these days is mostly done using an emoji-heavy language. Those funny little icons are so ingrained in our culture that even my mum knows what I mean when I place the tornado emoji next the nose emoji, next to the party emoji (learned that one the hard way).
So naturally, a new set of emoji is like finding out there’s a new Paddle Pop flavour – we didn’t know we needed it, but welcome to the family. And it does seem that inclusivity is heavily themed in this next release of 117 emoji due later in the year, with their creators Unicode Consortium chucking in plenty of gender-neutral characters to make communication a more even platform.
