Supermarket giant Woolworths have come through in a major way for vulnerable people in the community the morning, launching a dedicated shopping hour in stores for select members of the community.
We’re launching a dedicated shopping hour in our stores to help support the needs of the elderly & people with disability in the community. From tomorrow until at least friday, we’ll be opening exclusively for them to shop from 7-8am, where permitted.

Taking to Twitter, the company announced the shopping hour from 7-8am would be solely for elderly and vulnerable people, and this will be in effect from today till at least Friday. No doubt this is gonna carry on long after though.
The much needed announcement comes after absolute mayhem in Woolies stores and supermarkets across the country, with customers descending into absolute chaos as they panic buy and fight over items like toilet paper, pasta, hygienic products and more.
Let’s hope more supermarkets follow Woolies’ example, and our supermarkets regain a bit of sanity in the coming weeks…
