Money in the bank…

Nike has come through in a major way today, announcing that it will be donating more than $15 million in support of its employees local communities.

Several chairmen of the board will be donating a combined $10 million to Oregon, where the Nike World Headquarters are located. The donation is splitting between various funds and charities, with $1 million going to the Oregon Food Bank, $2 million to the Oregon Community Recovery Fund, and $7 million to Oregon Health & Science University.

The other $5 million will be headlined by a $1 million donation to the global COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund to fund the World Health Organisation and it’s partners and their response to the virus. The company has also announced a two-to-one match for any donations to support COVID-19 responses locally, nationally and internationally.

The announcement follows the brand’s decision to temporarily close it’s stores around the world until March 27th to limit the spread of the virus.
