Quicker than we were expecting…

In some news that we definitely weren’t expecting, Qantas has gotten the ball rolling for international travel. Now, people can book holidays to the UK, North America and numerous Asian countries, with flights set to depart from July 1. Seems a bit too good to be true right? Well thankfully, some cities have been left off the list of potential destinations, with Qantas omitting cities like Chicago and New York, while other destinations like Singapore and Hong Kong able to be travelled to from the jump.

Qantas boss Alan Joyce has also provided some clarification for those wanting to travel to the UK and US, stressing that international travel there would only happen once a suitable vaccine had been made and distributed, saying “For some of our big destination like the United States and the UK, it’s going to need a vaccine given the high prevalence of the virus in both of those locations.

“But we are getting more and more confident about the opportunities and the potential for a vaccine in helping getting those operations up potentially by the end of 2021.”

It’s a pretty big move from the international travel giant, especially considering the Federal Government is still yet to weigh in on when international borders will reopen.

But regardless, Qantas has gotten the ball rolling, and there’s one thing we know for sure: If you wanna travel internationally, you’re gonna need the jab. But seeing as the vaccine isn’t due to start being rolled out till March, it seems its gonna be touch and go for a little while longer.
