Seems like a silly question, but it’s easy to see something on a shelf and forget about all the steps that go into getting it there. For skateboard decks, the wood is harvested from maple trees, then shipped, then shaped, then painted etc, etc… For a company that leads the world in deck manufacturing, like Globe, that means a lot of trees, but in keeping with their Living Low Velocity modelling, the Australian-born action sports giants are taking the steps to replenish the natural world.
Continuing their partnership with the National Forest Foundation, their ReGrowth initiative has already seen a mammoth 90,000 trees planted, and in 2021 their contribution will see them plant well over three times the amount of trees they’ll harvest for skateboards.

Recently Globe have also incorporated more sustainable materials in the manufacturing of their decks including up-cycled coconut husks and bamboo – don’t ask me how or what part of the deck they’re in, but it’s refreshing to see a company embracing sustainability and reshaping their business around it.
