Why didn’t I think of that…

If you needed any further evidence that the NFT world is bizarre, fast-moving, and at the forefront of popular culture right now, you have it right here. 22-year-old Indonesian college student Ghozali Ghozalo’s collection of 933 NFTs, each of which is a selfie taken on his computer between 2017 and 2021, has exploded since he uploaded them to OpenSea on Sunday.

“I took photos of myself since I was 18 to 22 years old (2017 – 2021)…it’s really a picture of me standing in front of the computer day by day,” says his no-fuss OpenSea bio.

Initially, each NFT was available for minting at 0.001 ETH (around $3 USD), and nowthe floor price sits at $750 USD, with over a million USD in trade volume. This is thanks to support from Indonesian celebrity chef Arnold Poernomo and the Indonesian sneaker and streetwear entrepreneur Jeffry “Jejouw” Jouw, whose promotion of the project has fed the insatiable degen NFT community.

The group now has a discord which is popping off thanks to the global media attention the collection has received over the past day or so. Whether the collection will (further) skyrocket and join the likes of BAYC and CryptoPunks is yet to be seen, but it certainly does show that in the NFT world hype is one of, if not the most important factor…
