After amassing a billion dollars in revenue it feels like a sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker was always on the cards…

Though it wasn’t until May last year when Phillips’ Lawyer stated “Todd Phillips struck a deal to co-write the next Joker installment,” that we had a solid chunk of evidence that Joker 2 was in the works. Now, rumours are circulating that the first draft of the script is complete and they will commence shooting in early 2023, with Joaquin Phoenix apparently negotiating a big pay rise to reprise his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck.

It’s news that will have DC fans – who are already in a heightened state of anticipation for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman – licking their lips. And while no plot details have been released, we can assume the film will pick up shortly after the ending of Joker, with Gotham in flames and Fleck rising as the Clown Prince amongst the chaos following an escape from Arkham Asylum…
