If you’ve ever keen on seeing a modern-day Atlantis, you might wanna cop a quick plane ticket to Spain, as an underwater village has become visible after thirty years, in what’s another gut punch from good old climate change.
To give you a bit of history lesson, the Spanish village went by the name of Aceredo and is located on the border with Portugal. It’s been underwater since 1992, when it was submerged to create the Alto Lindoso reservoir.
Now, it’s not super uncommon for the reservoir to dip low enough for old roofs and structures to become visible, but it seems the drought has been especially tough this year for Spain, so much so that the entire town has become exposed, for the first time since 1992. Check out some images of the village below, and the next time you’re arguing with that climate change denying-aunt (we’ve all got at least one) at a family gathering, feel free to show them this article.
