But there are so many more better drugs out there…

In what is sure to be a shock to anyone who’s spent time over in Western Australia, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission has found that the WA capital has overtaken Adelaide in a national study of the country’s meth use.

The results were confirmed via a national wastewater drug analysis, with water samples being taken from last December to this past February just as COVID restrictions were relaxing. Interestingly, it seems that the low population of Perth itself plays a factor in its coming out on top, with ACIC principal drug advisor Shane Neilson explaining, “The issue there is the population in Perth is less than the eastern seaboard capital cities. The level of consumption is actually higher in terms of weight on the eastern seaboard but per capita that’s why Perth is high.”

Still, meth use in Perth is no doubt at an-time high, and is still the most popular drug in the country (even though there are so many better ones). To make things even worse, Aussies are the biggest meth users per capita, which is just bloody depressing. But it seems the use of other stimulants and drugs are on the rise as well, so here’s hoping one of them overtakes meth sometime soon (odd thing to be rooting for).
