Late-night partygoers can now get their carb fix beyond midnight…

Woollahra Council has walked back on its plans to minimise the trading hours of beloved Paddington restaurant, Indian Home Diner. Earlier this year, upon learning of the diner’s early morning trading hours, the council ruled it to be in breach of development consent, and enforced the eatery to shut its doors at midnight.  

The diner, which has long been a hub for late night Sydney partygoers, later requested to extend its opening hours to 3am on Fridays and Saturdays, an appeal which was originally rejected by Woollahra Council. On Tuesday, however, the restaurant’s second attempt to revert to late night trade was accepted, with the council now allowing Indian Home Diner to trade until 3am.

Taking to Facebook to share the news, Indian Home Diner said that council approval “could not have been possible without the immense love and support that the IHD community has shown us…Never did we imagine we would have such an impact on so many lives or that complete strangers would come together like this to rally beside us during our challenging times,” the post read. 

The news comes after much public outcry following the council’s first decision. Federal candidates for the seat of Wentworth and community Instagram page Bondi Lines first led the charge to revoke the council’s decision, with the latter even organising a ‘Rave 2 Save Indian Home Diner’ live music event attended by Bag Raiders and Cosmo’s Midnight.
