This puts every graduation gift in history to shame…

In some news that will surprise even the most dedicated of crypto adherents, it turns out hip hop lord JAY-Z and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey recently opened a crypto academy together, and they’re making waves for their recent gift to graduates.

Dubbed ‘The Bitcoin Academy’ and located in Marcy, New York, the institution seeks to educate residents of Hov’s home suburb on financial literacy, specifically through courses on Bitcoin and crypto.

Understandably, the two co-founders were keen to reward the recent graduates of the academy, but I don’t think anyone was expecting them to be this generous, with the two magnates gifting each student $1000 in Bitcoin (about $30,000 AUD).

Taking to Twitter (naturally) to announce the news, Dorsey wrote, “An update! At tonight’s graduation class, @sc [Shawn Carter] and I offered each student a grant of $1,000 in bitcoin. Students can save, spend, or send their bitcoin however they choose to keep investing in themselves.”

And it looks like this isn’t the last we’ve heard of The Bitcoin Academy, with the two billionaires having announced plans to build teams in both Africa and India, while incorporating JAY-Z’s streaming platform TIDAL (which Dorsey is also a part owner of). Check out some of the Academy’s courses below, and the next time you’re looking for graduation gift ideas, consider breaking the bank for some Bitcoin.
