Starting out shooting only 35mm film on a full manual SLR purchased on sale from Vinnies, Luke Latty has quickly made himself known as one of entertainments go-to-men. Back in the day a local dj saw some of his film shots and requested he shoot the gig that night. So what does one young entrepreneur do, borrow a dslr from a mate, and shoot the club night he played at and never looked back.

According to Luke “Party stuff is the only reason anyone other than my mom really knows what my name is but it annoys me when people think of me as JUST a party photographer. I shoot everything from parties to music to travel to backstage fashion”. If Luke had to pick, travel photography would be his favourite category to shoot. Finding a fascination with the challenge of going to a new place and trying to capture what it represents in one single image.

“I suppose the biggest thing I want to get from my photography is for people to connect with it, for people to enjoy it and for them to get an insight into something that otherwise they may not get a chance to.”

Enjoy getting familiar with Luke Latty:

This is probably the photo I’m most known for so figured I have to throw it in. I won the 2013 pedestrian tv social photo of the year with this shot and the gallery it was from was the craziest thing I’ve ever shot. It went viral and I still get people asking me about that party!

Drizzy looking like a fucking god floating among the mere mortals at future music festival.

Somewhere on the boarder of Arizona and Utah. The sky was the clearest I’ve ever seen, it was unbelievable you could literally see every star in the sky.

LL-Frames-5

I was exploring a pretty rough part of new orleans and wasn’t sure if it was somewhere I should be alone as the sun was going down. After seeing this car I snapped a photo and realised I was probably right and got out of there asap.

LL-Frames-6

Shane Parsons of DZ Deathrays shredding his guitar. Just something about the shot I really like, think it captures the moment perfectly.

LL-Frames-7

Alison Wonderland closing out Mountain Sounds in style with confetti raining down on the crowd.

LL-Frames-8

This guy could be the coolest looking dude I’ve ever seen with my own eyes in one the coolest cities I’ve ever been.

LL-Frames-9

One of my best mates josh climbed down onto this ledge that looked like it was going to collapse and send him plummeting to his death in the Grand Canyon because he wanted me to get this epic photo, what a legend!

LL-Frames-10

Portrait of my friend chloe on 35mm film on my first ever slr, the one that got me into photography. I don’t shoot as much film as I used to which sucks. Theres something about shooting on a full manual camera from the 70s that I love. Thinking about all the amazing shots it must have taken and places its been is rad.

Borough Park Brooklyn NY, I decided what I wanted to capture and walked through the flock of pigeons then snapped away and boom got one of my favourite photos ever.
