It’s close to impossible to keep track of all the NFT projects that are popping up around the world. With the big players like BAYC and CryptoPunks dominating the news cycle, not to mention a zillion new “unicorn projects” spamming our Instagram direct messages, you could be forgiven for letting something rad slip through your fingertips. But fear not, we’ve been filtering through the OpenSea looking for gems on your behalf, which has led us right into the Pirateverse.
Following the winning formula championed by the iconic projects mentioned above, the 3000 Salty Pirate Crew NFTs are computer-generated images featuring a range of eye-catching pirate-y traits. Aiming to bring the old school pirate into the digital age, the properties range from classic eye patches and cigars, through to zombie skin and space suits. Though they won’t be fully revealed until the mint is complete, it’s safe to say they’re gonna look pretty dope.
But it’s not just the cyber-scallywag artwork that’s grabbed our attention. The Salty Pirate Crew, which was founded by a team of Aussies, will be run by SPC holders as a DAO (decentralised autonomous organisation) meaning us holders decide which direction the ship is headed and how the money is spent. Backed by one of the largest e-gaming companies in the world, Ghost Gaming, they’re incorporating treasure hunts, online poker, and their own token, $SALT, into their roadmap.
When we heard about this project, the first thing we did – after adopting pirate personas in the office (YARRRR!) – was mint a few. Then we tracked down the creators of SPC, via Aus marketing wizards No Standing, on a quest to find out more about it. Naturally, these marauders invited us into their pirateverse where we chatted all things SPC with founders and team members Pablo, Cleaves, Ocean, Kimbo and Blackbeard, check it below and head here for the full interview:
Ready to join the Salty Pirate Crew? You can follow the links to keep up with them on Discord, Twitter, Opensea and their website. Pre-sale kicks off tomorrow (22/1), with public sale going live two days later – Happy minting!
