The first drop, titled ‘6 Rings’, touches on the six championship wins of MJ’s career, the shooting guard’s legendary wins with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s acting as inspiration for it. Whether you followed Jordan’s reign of dominance in real-time or you grew up hearing old NBA heads raving about them, it’s fair to say the 59-year-old’s debut collection will have universal appeal to all of the NFT buyers out there.
And so, the drop’s six NFTs (which have all sold out, but are still available for secondary sale!) designate each owner as a “founding fan”, which allows them access to exclusive content and communities. They’ve come out of the gate strong as well, with the NFT startup selling 5,005 Solana NFTs at a price of 2.3 SOL (approx $300 AUD each). And yes, the price of 2.3 SOL is inspired to MJ’s jersey number, another nod to the Florida-residing legend.
To give you a brief explainer on HEIR, the new Serenade-based platform is a collab between MJ and his son Jeffrey Jordan, and is aimed at connecting fans and athletes a bit more closely than your average Discord or Twitch account. The pair are yet to announce which other athletes will be joining the Chicago Bulls legend on it, but we doubt they’ll have trouble finding people. Speaking on the future and scope of the project, Jordan’s son hinted at further fan-inclusion, explaining, “We’ll be exploring many ways to thoughtfully bring fans into the community, while always ensuring we are honouring our founding fans in a unique way.”
