Well, there it is. Following extending into almost every inch of the digital sphere, NFTs have finally been confirmed to be heading to Instagram, by none other than Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The announcement came while Zuckerberg was talking on a panel at Texas’ South by Southwest Festival this week, when he confirmed, “We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term.”
He remained pretty tight-lipped on how the non-fungible tokens would be incorporated, but he did give a rough idea, explaining, “I would hope that you know, the clothing that your avatar is wearing in the metaverse, you know, can be basically minted as an NFT and you can take it between your different places. There’s like a bunch of technical things that need to get worked out before that’ll really be seamless to happen.”
Let’s be real, we all saw this coming. But still, it’s another huge win for the NFT space. Check out Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri also chat about the future of NFTs on the platform below, and keep your eyes peeled for the next progression of the digital tokens.
