They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and platinum selling rapper Snoop Digg was on the receiving end of such praise this past week, with an impersonator of the ‘Gin and Juice’ rapper seen walking in his stead at NFT NYC.
Going by the moniker “Doop Snogg” (genius), the alleged pretender’s true identity came to light after NBC reporter Kevin Collier attempted to interview him, but to no avail, with the journo tweeting, “I’m at the NFT NYC conference again in Times Square, and Snoop walked by, flanked by security. I grabbed his handler, said I’m a reporter, would love a few minutes. The guy said actually that’s an impersonator, legally can’t say it’s him, they hired him to drum up excitement.”
It’s not surprising the convention would utilise the rapper’s likeness to drum up buzz, especially considering he’s been hard at work at cementing himself in the NFT world, from announcing his plans to turn Death Row records into an NFT label to making swathes of NFT purchases under his NFT twitter account, Cozomo de’ Medici.
Once in a great while, a work drops that shows you the power of art, to move your heart and shake your soul
That's why I feel @deekaymotion's 'Life and Death' will go down as a defining work of this era
And why I was thrilled to acquire it today, for $1m USD, or 310 ETH ♥️⚔️👇 pic.twitter.com/11t0R9PEhe

As for Snoops thoughts on the matter, the rapper took to Twitter to show his amusement, simply retweeting Collier’s post with the caption “Doop Snogg”, in what’s an apparent troll of the impersonator. Check out his response below, and on the off-chance you’re having an NFT event any time soon, we’re guessing Doop Snogg will probably be available.
