Hailing from Atlanta – the same city which bred God himself aka Gucci Mane – it’s no surprise that Gunner Stahl’s portfolio is filled with candid shots of contemporary rap superstars. Photographing on film means that Gunner’s flicks have a more intimate and personal touch – a real connection amongst the flurry of cash, gold chains and grills.
Gunner has been photographing for six years, but his success is still yet to sink in. “Man, photography has taken me some crazy places, places I thought I’d never see. I just left Coachella. My only purpose going was to take pictures. If you would’ve told me last year I was going to Coachella next year to take pictures, I would’ve slapped you for sounding stupid,” he said.
See Gunner’s star-studded edition of ‘Frames’ below, and see more of his awesome work over on Instagram:
Desiigner – I walked outside my hotel in LA and he was out there. This was before I listened to ‘Zombie Walk’ 30 times in a row. Plus he’s #1 on the Hot 100 Now.
Killerandasweetthang – My friend Eileen. So, so, so proud of her.
Kylie & North – Look at North’s face. How could I not add this in the gallery.
Lil Uzi, Carti, Ian, Bari, Ade – Fashion week party group pic turned out to be a classic photo.
Lil Yachty – A week before, I told him on the phone that I DJ’d a party and played ‘Minnesota’ three times back-to-back. Our first time taking pictures.
Playboi Carti – my friend Carti. His music is so tight.
Rae Sremmurd – Swae is Michael Jackson. Jxmmi is Rick James.
Tony Hawk – ITS. FUCKING. TONY. HAWK.
Tyler, The Creator – I saw him at Coachella and was like “Woah, those chains.” So i took a pic.
Wiz Khalifa – I feel like this photo needs to be in a museum somewhere. Like, look at Wiz and look at his dog Vincent. This is the kind of photo that’s gonna be used in a Netflix documentary 30 years from now.
