George lives the life the we all dream of. Taking photos under Mainstage Imagery, this Melbourne photographer shoots events all over the world – from Tomorrowland, Belgium to Pacha, Sydney to Amnesia, Ibiza. Bashfully modest, we wanted to know more about his energetic and addictive images.
Sharing some raw honesty, George explains how he got into photography:
“I’m not one of those guys that’s always had a passion for photography. I kind of stumbled into it, like you do, when I was 18, and I’ve been learning ever since. I try not to take things so seriously when it comes to the whole technical or business side of things, it started out as a bit of fun on the weekends, so that’s really what I feel like it should remain. I’ve meet some of the realest guys in the game who I now have the pleasure of calling friends and am fortunate enough to be able to tour and shoot for artists all over the world. So I guess for me it’s about experiences more than anything else, and I hope I can continue sharing those memories through my work.”
George has selected some of his favourite images for us, and explained why they mean so much to him below.
Justin Bieber soundcheck in Milan at the MTV Awards late last year. Had fans camping in-front of the hotel we were staying at for 4 days after he’d left.
It’s debatable whether I can actually call this one of my photos as my girlfriend took it of me… but I did pick all the settings and that’s what counts.
This is the first show I did with Ruby. The restaurant we ate at organised had personalised chop-sticks with her name on them. Made it.
This is a real place in Chicago, believe it or not. It reminds me of The Matrix. It’s one of my favourite photos I’ve ever shot, in one of my favourite cities in the world.
Ruby in San Fran.
I slept 13 hours on a long-haul from Milan and woke up just in time to shoot this landing into Los Angeles.
I climbed a 15-metre scaffold to hide from Drake’s security. The timing was impeccable.
3am selfie at Tom Fruin’s Watertower in Brooklyn on a tour day off.
Tomorrowland 2014.
V rare photo of Ed drinking a non-alcoholic beverage the day of the MTV awards.
