In the aftermath of the Sydney storm, the bravest of board-riders gathered in Sydney to tackle Cape Fear – making for some breathtaking action that needs to be seen to be believed.

It’s been called “pound for pound… the heaviest and most dangerous wave in the world” by Mark Matthews, and surfers gather annually with Red Bull to face this awesome force of Mother Nature. This year, Rod Owen – the brains behind Owenphoto – has collected some of his favourite shots from the event for this week’s edition of Frames. The gargantuan crashing walls of water made for some hazardous conditions and brilliant photographs – we’ll let the images speak for themselves.
