Party & Bullshit

Yesterday, we dusted off those hangovers from the weekend and made our annual pilgrimage down to The Shire for the region’s biggest and best boutique festival, Sounds Of The Suburbs.

The creation of close LWA affiliates Jack Irvine and Egyptian tour management mogul Aaron Girgis, Sounds of the Suburbs takes place just a heartbeat away from their Space 44 studio at Wilber Lane, Cronulla. This year, the festival managed to sell out a few days in advance, so we knew it was going to be a big one – but we definitely weren’t prepared for just how mental the kids went for DZ Deathrays, while there were also lots of donuts (score) and beers flowing ever so freely throughout the afternoon and well into the evening. The psychedelic artwork sprayed onto the walls also made for some Instagram-friendly photography for the punters.

A little rain made the festival a little more moist, but people still kicked onto the afterparty where Dune Rats jumped on for a surprise DJ set. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon in The Shire, right? See the photos from SOTS below, and stay tuned for our exclusive in-depth interview and photoshoot with Aaron Girgis himself very soon:
