Party & Bullshit

We spent a day with Troye Sivan back in 2015 – see the photos here.

The story of Troye Sivan has been nothing short of spectacular. At just 20 years old, he’s grown to become one of Australia’s biggest global exports, backed by a fiercely dedicated online fanbase – comprised of over well over 3 million YouTube subscribers and equally large followings on Twitter and Instagram. His mini-album WILD reached Number. 1 on the iTunes charts in 57 countries, while his latest release Blue Neighbourhood charted strongly in Australia, Sweden, the United States and more.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Sivan’s sold out show at The Enmore Theatre saw fans queue around the streets of the Inner-West from the early afternoon. Sivan’s original show was scheduled for late 2015, but was cancelled due to illness – so the fans have been very patient for his very first headline gig in Sydney. Nicole Millar – the ARIA Award winning voice from Peking Duk’s club hit ‘High’ – got the crowd warmed up, with a full house ready for the night’s activities. When Sivan took the stage, the screams were nothing short of deafening – unlike anything we’ve ever heard in our years of shooting and attending gigs at the venue.

Despite his overwhelming popularity, Sivan’s music doesn’t feel like it’s made for the charts: It’s personal pop music from the heart, showing introspection and lyricism well beyond his years. That’s what makes his success even more admirable, and how he’s managed to cultivate such a dedicated global fan base.

If this is what Sivan’s career looks like a 20 years old, we can’t wait for the coming years. See the pictures above and prepare for Sivan to become a household name in no time.
