Someone give the hair and makeup department an Oscar.

That would make three Academy Awards for Makeup & Hairstyling for Kazu Hiro, who has won in 2017 and 2019 for Darkest Hour and Bombshell. But we gotta say, his work on actor-writer-director Bradley Cooper is next level, with Coops undergoing a powerful transformation to play composer Leonard Bernstein in Netflix’s forthcoming Maestro.

Following on from his much-acclaimed directorial debut, A Star Is Born, the new flick will see Cooper once again exercise his skills in font of and behind the camera, with none other than Steven Speilberg and Martin Scorsese (you may have heard of these guys) on board as producers of the project. Carey Mulligan will also Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre, with Matt Bomer and Maya Hawke co-starring in the film.

Maestro, which traces the life of the composer who gave us West Side Story, is a huge passion project for Cooper who has been working on the film for around four years. Growing up, a young Cooper aspired to be a composer, asking Santa Claus for a baton at eight years old. Bit nerdy, but whatever.

Check out his transformation below and hold onto your baton tightly in anticipation for the film which is due out next year.
