Here's how it went down.

Scott Marsh – the man behind those Kanye West and Mike Maird murals that graced Chippendale – embarked on perhaps his most ambitious project yet with ‘Australian Graffiti’, an exhibition held on a Sydney train carriage.

‘Australian Graffiti’ began as a treasure hunt of sorts, where Marsh placed various pieces of his art on trains around the city, before leaking clues for followers to find the works and take home for themselves. The multi-day hunt culminated in a full-blown exhibition, where attendees were told to meet at a certain time on a certain train platform. None of this was sanctioned by Cityrail, with Marsh’s guerilla approach to art rekindling those same feelings of excitement and adrenaline conjured up by illegal graffiti.

“It was a logistical nightmare for me but it all went according to plan, the show wasn’t shut down by any ticket inspectors or transit police and the train driver and guard where oblivious to the 60+ people partying in the back carriage,” Marsh said. Once aboard the train, guests did a lap of the city circle while viewing Marsh’s artworks, filled with bleeding colours and intricate detail.

If you didn’t make it on the night, you can watch a video recap of the exhibition below, which was filmed by Billy Zammit and features a motherfuckin’ Mobb Deep song. How good! Shouts to James Jirat in the cut. You can also see photos from the event from the god Cole Bennetts:
