The legend would be 69 today.

Robin Williams’ talent knew no bounds. Whether it was his encyclopedic arsenal of impressions, his comedic timing, or his ability to tug at the heartstrings with those starry eyes, he knew how to reach beyond the screen and into a viewer’s mind. Taking his own life back in 2014 after a long and private battle with depression, Williams left millions of fans around the world with a feeling of great loss, with many of us perplexed at how someone who bought so much joy could be so extremely sad on the inside.

Thankfully, however, he left behind a myriad of unparalleled performances, allowing us to experience and celebrate his work for years to come. Here, we look back at some clips from the funnyman’s most iconic films and reflect on his contribution to the medium:

Alladin (1992)

Mrs Doubtfire (1993)

Jumanji (1995)

Flubber (1997)

Night At The Museum (2006)

Hook (1992)

Good Morning Vietnam (1987)

Dead Poets Society (1989)

Patch Adams ( 1998)

Good Will Hunting (1997)
