The internet has been set ablaze following the attack on comedian Dave Chappelle yesterday evening, footage of the altercation seemingly impossible to escape online…

The altercation took place while Chappelle was performing at Netflix’s month-long festival Netflix Is A Joke, when an audience member jumped on the stage and quickly tackled him as Chappelle was closing out his set.

However, unlike the Will Smith and Chris Rock slap at the Oscars that took place without any immediate repercussions, Chappelle and his entourage (which involved rapper Busta Rhymes, actor Jamie Foxx and several more high profile celebs) quickly took matters into their own hands, reportedly beating up the assailant backstage before handing him over to the authorities.

Not only was the tackle captured on video, but Chappelle’s entourage’s beating up of the attendee was as well, with Chappelle later filmed cracking jokes on stage following the incident. Even fellow comedian Chris Rock joined in on the fun, quipping, “Was that Will Smith?”

It might seem a tad excessive on the part of Chappelle’s entourage, especially considering the audience member was later seen being loaded into an ambulance due to his injuries, but it turns out the suspect actually had a replica gun in his possession, which could discharge a knife upon activation. Long story short, if you’ve got a problem with a comedian, probably don’t attack them on stage in front of millions of people. Check out video of the viral moment below.
