Renowned streetwear brand Huffer is continuing to diversify and reinvigorate their creative process with each and every drop, and their latest concept ‘Hanging Out With’ sees them take all of the spotlight and attention they’ve garnered over the past couple of years and funnel it right back into local artists and the community.
A response to the increasingly localised world we find ourselves living in, ‘Hanging Out With’ is born from infusing characters and environments into products to innovate the landscape of Huffer’s releases, with Alma, a tattoo artist at Two Hands tattoo, being one of the first to come on board for ‘Hanging Out With.’
Shot by Logan Buchanan & Guy Coombes, ‘Hanging Out With Alma’ showcases prints and yardage that have been hand-designed by Alma herself. The collection sees Alma’s distinct style and sense of culture find its way to the forefront, with elements of Manuka and flax embedded within her signature roses and detailed python. Drawing upon her Portuguese heritage with New Zealand flavouring, the resulting creations make for a worldly blend within local landscapes and indoor elements.
Speaking on ‘Hanging Out With’ and Alma, Creative Director of Huffer, Steve Dunstan explains “Another venture that intertwines with our commitment to community. It’s an exciting intersection of creative collaboration through time spent hanging out, getting to know each other, and combining strengths for truly unique products that have very real stories behind them,” while adding “Alma has such an amazing talent. Working with her and being involved with her creative process with ours has resulted in a capsule of products that I am very proud of. She’s a true artist that puts thought into her process”.
An initiative that gives Huffer another opportunity to connect with the community, support the locals and feed the soul through expression, it’s safe to say it’s pretty special to say the least.
