Byron Bay singer-songwriter MT WARNING has today offered the first glimpse into his new single and music video for ‘Hey Hi’, accessible exclusively on Life Without Andy below.

The track is the first musical offering from MT WARNING – known offstage as Mikey Bryant – since the 2020 album, Consolations, and sees the multi-instrumentalist reacquaint himself with audiences in a shimmering sonic homage to bygone eras.

Inspired by the sounds of ‘90s television show ‘Rage’ and backed by a ‘60s Wurlitzer piano, the single nostalgically reflects the past while providing an update on Bryant in the present. “Hey, Hi”, he sings with signature twang on the track’s organ-led opening, “I’m doing fine.” Switching from strings to percussion, the song later welcomes a tambourine before its triumphant final chorus.

The accompanying video, which was self-recorded at his in-home studio, showcases Bryant’s instrumental mastery. Tracing him from the drumkit to the piano set and back, the visualizer energises the already optimistic track, as Bryant bids adieu with a smile. “I hold my head up high,” he declares on the song’s euphoric bridge, and with his first hit of 2022 under his belt, it isn’t hard to see why.

‘Hey Hi’ is the first track to be lifted from Bryant’s forthcoming third album, set to be released later this year. In 2014, the producer released his debut project, Midnight Set, before following it up a year later with the EP Petrified Heart. You can catch MT WARNING’s ‘Hey Hi’ premiere above, and listen to it on streaming services now here.
