Australia, the country that’s almost always 2000-and-late to every trend, has now gotten it’s very first fully-licensed cheese train. Not only is it the first of its kind in the country, but it’s also the first time anyone’s heard of getting a licence to sling cheese.

The dairy-filled abode in question goes by the name of Splatters and is located in Geelong. Served upon a 20 metre conveyor belt, the cheese plates range from $5-14 eating, with additional Victorian wines and beers on offer to enhance the overall experience (although it sounds like it doesn’t really need it).

Speaking on the inspiration behind the new joint, Splatters founder and owner Jo Bangles references ‘sushi trains’, which isn’t totally surprising. This definitely doesn’t sound like the sushi train (or any sushi train in general for that matter) that the LWA team hits up on our lunch breaks however, with Bangles adding “We do an accompaniment with each cheese, we also do local charcuterie from Salt Kitchen, and local sourdough breads with infused butters, stuffed olives, bits and piece, all on the train as well.”

Looks like I’m stopping in Geelong while on my way to Pitch Music Festival this weekend. Check out some of Splatters’ many plates below.
