Scary stuff…

From 9pm today, a travel ban will be placed on all non-residents and non-Australian citizens coming to Australia.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has explained that the delay was to allow people preparing to arrive in Australia to make sufficient arrangements for when they return and enter into self isolation, instead of leaving them in the lurch mid-flight.

The ban has been put into effect to slow the spread of COVID-19 as the majority of cases have stemmed from overseas.

“We have about 80 per cent of the cases … in Australia that are either the result of someone who has contracted the virus overseas or someone who has had direct contact with someone who has returned from overseas,” he said.

The ban, in conjunction with quarantine and self isolation, is hoped to flatten the curve of new cases to ensure that the healthcare system doesn’t collapse and give health organisations time to find a vaccine to the virus.
