You might remember Luka Magnotta, the porn-star turned killer-cannibal who was the subject of last year’s Netflix crime-doco Don’t F**k With Cats, and who was convicted for murdering his boyfriend Jun Ling and killing cats in 2014.

It now seems Magnotta is set to be released from prison, as the jail he is serving his sentence in has had ten inmates and 16 officers fall ill with COVID-19.

Apparently thing are quite bad at the prison, with government medical professionals issuing an open letter stating “Conditions are crowded, prisoners share cells, they must be frisked and handcuffed by officers, line up daily for medication, share common spaces and dining halls, and use the same telephones and washrooms. They also lack access to some of the critical supplies people in the community are using to keep themselves safe, such as hand sanitizer, cleaning products and sometimes soap.’

Magnotta’s ex-girlfriend, Barbie Swallows, harbours no good will toward her former lover however, stating “I hope the coronavirus finds him in prison, he has no remorse for what he did and only cares about himself.”

Magnotta, who killed and chopped up his boyfriend Lin before mailing his body parts to various schools and political parties has always maintained his innocence however, stating that he was framed for all the crimes by someone named “Manny”. Although, he did film himself eating pieces of Lin’s body parts, so we’re not sure how “Manny” could’ve faked that as well…
